It's the talk of the farm. All the horses are beginning to buzz with excitement. Why? Open House is coming!
How can the horses not be getting excited? They all start talking amongst themselves in advance of Open House, October 10th. We thought you'd like to hear what a few of them are saying, so we made them all Horses of the Month for September.

"Scout, have you heard? Open House is next month!"
"I know, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. So many wonderful people come visit. I'm getting nervous.Do I look OK?"
"Stay calm, Scout - you always pull it together and have that draft horse composure going on - you'll be fine."
"Thanks, Calvin - you're a real friend."
What does Open House mean for the horses? Well, first of all, they get to meet you! But there's always something special in the air even as Open House approaches - there's a different kind of activity in preparation for Mylestone's annual Open House. Lots of talk, lots of planning - they can't help but get excited, too!

"Patty, what do you think - do we look cuter cuddled together like this, or do we want to split up and show people what a mini really looks like?"
"Don't worry about it, Lucy. People like us no matter what. They know we had a rough past and just appreciate us."
"Will there be food?"
"Yes, but we can't have treats during Open House. All kinds of stuff could make us sick. They give it all to us in time."
"Yum - I can't wait!"
As the big day approaches, the horses all get groomed extra meticulously. They are admonished, begged and pleaded with not to roll ... just for the day - so they can look their gorgeous best for visitors. Fields are picked and stalls are mucked beyond clean, and the farm is spruced up in every way possible. Visitors come and say how beautiful they are, giving them loving attention and taking their pictures - they're stars! The horses see treats and hay being donated ... all for them.

"Holly, is it cool that we might be eating in front of visitors?"
"Well, yeah, they know we have to eat, Woody!"
"I just want us to look our best, that's all."
"Well, Woody, if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen and I'll work the fence at Open House!"
"Hey, that's what you try and do every year - how `bout I get a little fence time?"
"Woody ... we love each other - that's what counts - all we really want to do is say hello to the lovely people that sponsor us and help care for us and have come to see us. That's all. We're horses, remember?"
"Right - OK everyone - be sure to come see us on October 10th!"
Of course, all of them would welcome sponsors! So if you'd like to help support Calvin, Scout, Patty, Lucy, Holly or Woody, please open our Sponsorship form, and let them know you care. They'll all be looking for you at Open House!
