Ponies used for pony parties and pony rides are a patient lot. They put up with screaming, kicking children of all ages and sizes on their backs, and at parties may also be surrounded by loud, running children who have no concept of how to behave around a horse.
Tyler was one of those ponies until recently when he developed arthritis in his knee and could no longer be ridden. Unable to earn his keep, he faced being put down. But at 23 years old and in otherwise good health, Tyler still had some years ahead of him to enjoy. When Mylestone heard about him, it was decided he'd do just fine here.
Tyler's still got plenty of spunk in him and he's a real cutie. We know he'll be a wonderful asset in our grooming program with the special needs kids who are very gentle and caring with the horses and always closely supervised. Mylestone's founder, Susankelly, even brought her own son to meet Tyler, walk him on lead and brush him to insure he was as friendly and kind as they hoped. And he sure was. It sounds like a match made in heaven.
He is currently in an area near the house where it's easy to keep an eye on him, and where Tyler can get used to us all coming and going and we can get to know him. We're very glad that we could help this sweet pony enjoy a much deserved retirement, and hope he'll be happy, too.4/11/2017
