Madeline is a 7 year old buckskin pony mare. She was rescued with her best friend Twinkle, a small pony with a wry nose. Madeline was kicked in the field when she was young and broke her elbow. She was never seen by a vet so in order to keep the weight off her elbow she learned to walk on 3 legs. She was left like that for over a year, and her knee fused in the bent position. Once at Mylestone, we had Madline evaluated to see if we might help her regain use of her front leg. Through the kindness of many people, Madeline received surgery on her leg, and was later fitted with a brace to help her walk properly. Despite all these wonderful efforts, Madeline was unable to manage with the brace, and it was easier for her as well as kinder to let her do her best on her three good legs.
