Ghost arrived on Halloween day in need of a home. He is a QH that was raced. He was pin fired many years ago over 100 times in each leg. Pin firing is a barbaric practice in which a hot probe is stuck into the horses' legs that are lame, suffering from some sort of tendon injury. The hot probe is intended to make the injury worse and promote healing and allow the swelling to seep out of the holes left by the probe. It is no longer practiced by most vets. Ghost never fully came back to be able to race so he was sent off as a riding horse for several years.
He has poor confirmation which lead to several lameness issues. Placing a very lame companion horse is difficult to begin with let alone going into winter. Ghost could have easily fallen through the cracks and ended up at an auction. This is why we took him in. He has terrible hooves which are very short. He requires glue-on shoes and hoof supplements. He was so lame when he came that it was hard to tell what was bothering him but his is doing better and we are now convinced we can bring him around. Ghost is very sweet. He is in need of donations for his care.
