My name is Ethan and I am a quarterhorse saddle bred cross. I was used as a lesson horse at a large riding facility. I had to work hard and I couldn't keep up with the lesson load. I went very lame in my right front knee. They didn’t know what was causing my lameness so they decided they didn’t want me anymore and were sending me to a dealer. A woman who rode me at the stable raised the funds to purchase me from the dealer. She asked Mylestone if they could take me in.
When I arrived at Mylestone the vet took X-rays of my knee to find out what was wrong. I ended up having a slab fracture. A piece of bone has broken off the front of my knee and I needed to be on complete stall rest. If the people at the riding facility had taken these X-rays when I became so lame there would have been a better chance of my knee healing. Now I have arthritis forming so my chances of recovering to the point of being trail ridden are slim.
I was a very good boy about my stall rest. My recovery was slow but at least I am safe now and able to enjoy being out in the paddock. I prefer people to other horses. I can spook easily at things and get nervous, so I can be high strung at times. Overall I am a nice guy who was lucky enough to get a second chance
